If you are using any modern variant of Microsoft Windows you will almost certainly want to go with <ahref="https://github.com/ModOrganizer2/modorganizer/releases">Mod Organizer 2 and <ahref="/mods/modorganizer-to-openmw/">ModOrganizer-to-OpenMW. I recommend taking a look at <ahref="https://www.danjb.com/morrowind/openmw_mod_management">Danjb's Guide To OpenMW Mod Management, which goes into a lot of detail about using ModOrganizer 2.

Below is a step-by-step guide on using Mod Organizer 2 to streamline the download and installation of mods:

Install <ahref="https://github.com/ModOrganizer2/modorganizer/releases">Mod Organizer 2 and the <ahref="https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/45642">Export to OpenMW plugin. Point this to your mods folder (e.g.
C:\games\OpenMWMods
or whatever you are using).

Install mods in order, use any of <ahref="/lists/">this website's lists as a reference or use your own list/load order. Mod Organizer 2 can be used to:

Select data folders within mod
.zip
files

Merge patches with core mods

Delete unwanted or conflicting files

Create folders as needed

Rename files as needed

<ahref="/tips/register-bsas/">Register BSAs the normal way

Ensure your load order matches what's given by <ahref="/cfg-generator/">the CFG Generator, or use Mlox to verify if using a custom list.

Optional but potentially useful: rename
.omwaddon
files to
.esp
, so that Mod Organizer 2 will recognize them.

Close Mod Organizer 2, run the OpenMW-Launcher and double check your plugin load order

<ahref="https://github.com/jmelesky/omwllf/blob/master/README.md#how-to-use-this">Run OMWLLF as you would normally

Add the generated OMWLLF plugin to the end of your load order

Run OpenMW from the launcher and enjoy!
